The carddeck
The More-Than-Human (MTH) card deck is a game that allows you to explore the complex relationships between human and more-than-human entities in a playful, engaging manner. It is designed to challenge the traditional human-centric design paradigm and encourage consideration of how humans coexist with more-than-human entities in our interconnected world. When applied to a project, this card game enables teams to map out the web of actors involved, examine their roles, and consider the ethical implications these actors may have on society.
The workshop
In Embracing More-Than-Human Perspectives in a Transforming World, we aimed to make More-Than-Human (MTH) design tangible and accessible beyond academic theory through a workshop format. It uses the MTH card deck with helping participants explore how humans, technologies, and non-human entities coexist within complex systems. At the Dutch Design Week 2024 and ThingsCon 2024, it brought together designers, researchers, and artists to rethink the role of technology and responsibility in shared futures.
