graiNN

graiNN is a music instrument for granular sound design that uses interactive machine learning to create gesture-sound mappings. graiNN allows musicians to craft electronic granular sounds through iteratively specifying unique hand gestures as input and their associated granular synthesis parameters, while training the system in the [map] modus. After the training has completed, musicians can directly interact with a newly learned mapping for real-time control of the granular sound synthesis engine in the [play] modus. Instead of using machine learning for making music easier, graiNN aims to create novel ways for exploration, synthesis, and engagement with electronic musical instruments.
