Our Posthuman Planet

The Bird Whisperer is an artifact designed from a posthuman perspective that plays artificially generated bird songs. We employed a WaveGAN (a generative adversarial network specialized in audio synthesis) to produce these bird songs based on a library of recorded bird calls. The artifact aims to foster relationships with real birds through these artificial sounds. In our extended deployment, we broadly explored the implications and future possibilities of posthuman design. The Bird Whisperer is showcased in a short fictional documentary, inspired by Attenborough’s style, serving as both a demonstration and a reflective tool.
