Commond Ground

Common Ground is a experimental discussion platform developed in response to OpenAI’s October 2023 call for projects under the “Democratic Inputs to AI” initiative. It enables open-ended, iterative small-group conversations among large numbers of participants, guided by an AI moderator, to surface, refine, and converge on shared statements and opinions.

I was part of the design (research) team, responsible for creating the user interfaces. The primary challenge was to create an engaging experience that effectively facilitated a democratic consensus-building process within a video chat environment. Later on, I also developed interface components and helped with defining behaviours of different AI agents. Dembrane, lead of the consortium, published a report about the project.
